  Our November Campout will be 10-12 at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch (SR2). The program will focus on Climbing .  Permission forms are due Monday, November 6.  Grub money ($15 per scout/$20 per adult) is due with your Permission Slip on Monday, November 6-- get it to your grubmaster so they can plan for you!

The program will focus on Climbing .  Permission forms are due Monday, November 8.  Transportation: We will officially allow pre-arranged transportation on this campout, i.e. parents can pre-arrange for their Scout to be transported to and from the campout by another parent, but again, you the parent must work this out with another parent – this is not a drop-off scenario like we did pre-COVID.  Grub money ($15 per scout/$20 per adult) is due with your Permission Slip on Monday, November 8-- get it to your grubmaster so they can plan for you!

November's campout is the annual Longhorn Council Highland Games at Camp Tahuaya (Belton, TX) November 10-12 . Featuring professional Scottish Highland games weights, hammers, and much more. You will compete in fun and challenging Celtic tests of strength, endurance and skill. Highland Games is both an individual event and a team event for groups of 4-8 participants from Venture Crews, Teams and Troops at Camp Tahuaya. There are 2 age classes for youth in all of the events. “Light Weight” are age 11-14 years, and “Heavy Weight” are 15 and older.” There is also a Venturers Class, an Adult Class, and an Adult Coed Class. Team and Individual Awards will be given in each class. Competitions are “Toss” events that go for distance and “throw” events go for height. November's campout is the annual Highland Games, so if you don't already have a kilt, NOW is the time to get one. For those new to the big wide world of Scouts -- just what ARE the Highland Games? I'm glad you asked! The Highland Games are an annual Council-wide gathering of Boy Scouts, Explorers and Venturing Crews which features traditional Scottish games: weights, hammers, axe throwing and much more. Scouts (and leaders) will compete in fun and challenging Celtic tests of strength, endurance and skill.  So, if you're going to be part of the action, you should dress the part, right?! The kilts are made-to-measure and cost $15. To order, bring your $15 to the Committee Room and see Mrs. Hunter. (Moms, if you can help sew, we could really use your help. It's easy, and we will provide you with everything you need.)
