Aquatic School

Aquatic School is a leadership program teaching Scouts and Venturers to be strong leaders, instructors of aquatics skills, and planners of unit aquatics activities. It is much more than simply a “lifeguard school” — rather, it’s a leadership and skills development program that gives your Scouts or Venturers the skills needed to make them better instructors and better leaders. Aquatic School graduates are taught the fundamentals of Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat, the principles of teaching a non-swimmer, planning skills for Unit swims and float plans, as well as aquatic first aid and emergency procedures. For Scouts interested in being an Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) or Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) in the future, scouts can now register for the summer NYLT Course, the Spring Course has sold out. https://scoutingevent.com/662-NYLT_2023 NYLT 226-SR2   Course – 6 Day Course, Monday - Saturday Fee: $200  July 10 - 15 Location: Sid Richardson Note that your Scout must apply to attend but prior to application, they need to personally speak with Mr. Buell, Scoutmaster because the unit leader signature required is the Scoutmaster’s. Participant Requirements: If you are attending as a Scouts BSA youth, you must: Be a registered member of a Scout Troop for a period of 6 months prior to the start of the course Have earned your 1st Class Rank by the start of the course. Be 13 years of age by the first day of the course and have not yet reached your 18th birthday by the last day of the course. Have your Scoutmaster’s approval signature, questions initialed and your Parent/Guardian’s approval.

Summer Camp 2023

Summer Camp 2023 is at Camp Constantin in Graford, Texas,  June 4 - June 10 . Check out all they have to offer in their leader guide  HERE . There's no better way to get those much-needed merit badges or to achieve rank advancement than to attend Summer Camp.  The price this year is  $360 for a whole week of fun! (Adults $200) The YOUTH Permission Form can be found  HERE . All misc forms, including medicine forms you'll need for monthly campouts or summer camping can always be found on our Troop's Forms Page which is  HERE . Mustang District Merit Badge Mania

Register now for the Mustang District Merit Badge Mania (M3).   REGISTER HERE REGISTRATION  CLOSES FEBRUARY 4 Classes will be February 11 and 25th from 12-5p at the Tarrant County College NE campus, 828 West Harwood Road in Hurst.  Attendance at BOTH SESSIONS is required.   (Please note the second session conflicts with the Art In The Square Fundraiser so make note of that if you planned to staff that) Cost is $15 per Scout but do note that some classes may have a supply cost. February Camping

  For our February campout, we'll be going to Worth Ranch February 3-5 and the program will focus on hiking.  This will also be a Philmont practice campout. Meal planning will be conducted at the January 30 Monday night Troop meeting. Remember that $5 needs to go to Ms. Boyd for those participating in the Philmont practice. Permission Forms are HERE

January 30 Troop Meeting

Order of the Arrow (OA) elections are Monday night.  If you’re unsure if you have met the requirements to be added to the OA election ballot, please contact Troop leadership.  We need a quorum for this vote so please plan to be there. The OA requirements are as follows: 1st class scout or higher, over the last 2 years have attended a long term camp (summer or winter camp) of 5 nights or more, and 10 other camping nights over no more than 2 years.  This is an opportunity to be recognized by your peers for living the Scout Oath and Law – don’t miss out! Also on the agenda -- CAMPOUT MENU PLANNING Encourage your scouts to think outside the box for their menu plan.  Lots of recipes and resources are online... Scout Life Magazine has a lot of articles for camp cuisine.  Here's a link to one with winning recipes. There will be a Philmont practice hike on this campout.  Be sure to give $5 to Ms. Boyd for food.

      Friendly reminder that the  Troop meeting  will be tonight at 6:30pm in the FLC.  This will be our first meeting of 2023.  We look forward to seeing all of our Scouts and leaders!

         There will be a 6:00 pm PLC Meeting tonight before the Troop Meeting.  All Patrol Leaders, Assistant Patrol Leaders, elected positions and the SPL team should plan to attend.
